Homebirth Midwifery Midwives are trained professionals that deliver babies and provide postpartum and prenatal care to newborns and mothers. With an accredited education you can train for a career working in client's homes delivering their babies, and you can even find employment in hospitals and other facilities.

Students can also study subjects like OB complications, Pathophysiology of gynecology and obstetrics, pharmacology principles, primary care of women, professional issues, and much more. When looking to obtain a career as a midwife students should have previous training in chemistry, microbiology, and biology, as well as women's studies and sociology.

The best way to become a homebirth midwife is to obtain a major in the field of nursing. As a homebirth midwife you will help women to have a natural experience of birth. Depending on the location some states may require that you hold a bachelor's degree or a masters in nursing in order to obtain a career as a licensed CNM. The majority of CNM's find employment in clinics, hospitals, birthing centers, private practices, health departments, institutions, and other medical facilities.
